The Sherwood Certificate & Diploma in Hospitality Management

The
course encompasses the basic skills and knowledge in hospitality management
with a strong emphasis on hotel management. The course will produce
entry-level personnel for the hospitality industry.
Programme
Structure:
The
Sherwood Certificate in Hospitality Management requires the successful
completion of any two of the following Modules and mandatory "English
for Communication" to score 30 credits in total. Each of the 12
credit-point modules lasts for 12 weeks.
- FNB : Food
& Beverage Services (12 Credits)
- FOF : Front
Office (12 Credits)
- KPR : Kitchen
Production (12 Credits)
- HKS : Housekeeping
Services (12 Credits)
- EFC : English
for Communication (6 Credits)
Entry
Requirements:
The entry
requirements for the Certificate Program are
- Completion of GCE "O" levels or SSC
- Basic Understanding of English Language
Opportunities
of Higher Education:
The Certificate
Program articulates into the Diploma in Hospitality Management conducted
in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (or in Dhaka, Bangladesh, as being planned).
The Diploma
combines theory and practice in a 2 ½ year program, of which
students spend 6 months in a leading hotel in Malaysia as part of industrial
training attachment.
The standard
of the Diploma in Hospitality Management is equivalent to the 1st or
even 2nd year of a relevant Bachelor Degree. Graduates can further their
Bachelor Degree courses with advanced standing at colleges in Malaysia,
UK or Australia.
Employment
Opportunities:
Diploma graduates
may find employment in many areas of work related to the hospitality
industry, e.g. work in hotels, restaurants, resorts, travel agencies
or as tour guides. They may work as administrators, planners or executives
in the industry. Certificate program graduates may be employed as entry-level
assistants in hotels or restaurants.
